While you’re doing some online shopping for the holidays (or “anydays”), your Amazon purchases can make a difference for creative education!

When you sign up to #SupportInspire through Amazon Smile, a percentage of every single purchase you make will benefit the Inspire Foundation – all at no extra cost to you.

Follow this step-by-step guide for making the most of your online purchases:

Using a Desktop Computer

  1. On your mobile device or computer, click our special Inspire Foundation Amazon Smile link
  2. Sign in and follow the prompts to link your Amazon account to our cause (it’s easy and quick!)
  3. When you’re ready to shop on a desktop, visit smile.amazon.com. It’s set up exactly like the Amazon store, but will make a difference for our cause any time you use it.

We recommend saving the AmazonSmile link as a Bookmark or Favorite in your browser, so that when it’s time to shop you automatically use this giving tool.

4. Make purchases on the AmazonSmile store, and Amazon will donate .5% of most of your purchases to the Inspire School of Arts & Sciences Foundation

.5% may seem like a small number and shouldn’t replace your regular charitable giving. But with every purchase made by you and others who participate, the dollars add up to big impacts over time.

Using a Mobile Device

  1. Open the Amazon app on your mobile device or tablet

If you don’t already have the app, download it from the Apple App Store or Google Play.

2. If you haven’t already, sign up for AmazonSmile using our special link.

You can also up manually by visiting smile.amazon.com and typing in “Inspire School of Arts & Sciences Foundation.”

If you’ve already signed up on a desktop, you can skip this step and move on to the next!

3. Open the App settings

Open the app and find ’Settings’ in the main menu (☰). Tap on ‘AmazonSmile’ and follow the on-screen instructions to turn on AmazonSmile on your phone.

AmazonSmile ScreenShot

That’s it! Once activated, your eligible Amazon purchases will fuel the Inspire mission!

Thank you for helping to make a difference, and happy shopping.

Dear Inspire Supporter,

Since opening in 2010, Inspire School of Arts & Sciences in Chico has provided students with a learning experience unlike any other North State high school. Where else can a student major in subjects like theatre, engineering, digital media arts, dance, music, robotics or science?

This is not a one-size-fits-all school. It’s a find-where-you-fit and give-it-all-you’ve-got high school experience.

And now it’s time for this school to have its own campus. Four hundred plus students strong, Inspire currently shares space with Chico High School, but plans are in the works to give Inspire students their own place. In 2019, the Chico Unified School District approved the use of seven acres of district land, so Inspire School of Arts and Sciences could build the school our students and staff and the broader community deserve.

The proposed $20 million campus has funding commitments from the state, the school district and from Measure K, but more matching funds are needed to make sure we can break ground on the new campus by next year.

This Is Where Your Help Comes In

As we enter this holiday season, would you consider helping complete the vision of a home for Inspire School of Arts and Sciences? Your heartfelt donation to the Inspire School of Arts & Sciences Foundation capital campaign will help ensure Inspire students, for years to come, will have the space and facilities needed to thrive.

There are many ways you can give, including through one-time or monthly donations. Another way allows you to give while also leaving your legacy through the Foundation’s naming opportunities campaign. There are naming opportunities with donations starting as low as $250. Have your name placed upon a donor wall. Or perhaps, you or your business might sponsor the campus recording studio? What about the engineering and robotics or piano & music composition labs?

Your name, your legacy.

Whatever the contribution, just know you will forever make a positive difference in the lives of every student who walks the halls of Inspire School of Arts and Sciences.

Information about the school and the Foundation’s capital campaign, including all naming opportunities, can be found at www.SupportInspire.com.

Thank you,

It’s the season of giving and the season of gratitude, and we couldn’t be more grateful for the outpouring of support and enthusiasm that has come to us this year from community partners, donors, our campus community, staff, and arts and sciences fans! November is a huge month for the Inspire School of Arts & Sciences Foundation for multiple reasons, but perhaps most importantly this month is planning for GivingTuesday 2021.

What is GivingTuesday?

GivingTuesday is a global movement to cultivate support, raise money, and build capacity for nonprofit organizations around the world. Here in Northern California, there is no shortage of amazing organizations to donate time or money to, and the Inspire Foundation hopes to be on your GivingTuesday list. While we encourage you to get actively involved in our work every day, GivingTuesday 2021 will be held all day on November 30th, 2021.

How Can I Support Inspire on GivingTuesday?

Glad you asked. We are building momentum for GivingTuesday all month during this season of giving, and there are a variety of ways to get involved throughout November and beyond GivingTuesday 2021!

Donate to the Peer-to-Peer Campaign

Our number one priority as an organization is raising the money we need to build a new campus and permanent home for Inspire School of Arts & Sciences. We’ve successfully launched our Peer to Peer Fundraising Campaign: Their Future Is Now, and invite any community supporter to learn more about the campaign, create a fundraiser, or donate to an existing fundraiser. Every dollar goes toward the future of Inspire and our capital campaign to build a new campus.

Donate to the GivingTuesday Campaign

Thanks to the generous contributions of our donors, we’ve already raised over $2,000 toward our GivingTuesday efforts. Please consider increasing that amount and supporting a wide range of programs — from scholarships, to student events, to our Angel Network and Capital Campaign. Donate to this effort to help us make a big splash on and before GivingTuesday.

Create a Facebook Fundraiser

Facebook Fundraisers are an excellent way to build awareness and raise money through your networks, and they are becoming increasingly popular each year. These fundraisers allow your friends and followers to make tax-deductible donations to nonprofit causes directly from Facebook. You can even personalize your fundraiser messaging to encourage others to participate even more. You can create these fundraisers for birthdays, anniversaries, or just because you want to any time by visiting the Fundraisers website and choosing the Inspire School of Arts & Sciences Foundation as your beneficiary, or you can head over to the Fundraisers tab on our Facebook Page to start one there.

On GivingTuesday, Facebook is offering 100% matching donations for nonprofits up to $2 million, so if you create and/or donate to a Facebook Fundraiser early on November 30th, you have a chance to double your fundraising power for the Foundation. Learn all about this effort in Facebook’s GivingTuesday article. Creating a GivingTuesday fundraiser is just as simple as creating a regular fundraiser — the only difference is that Facebook changes their fundraising platform during the week of GivingTuesday to help you maximize your efforts.

Become a Monthly Donor

In order to keep the Foundation strong, we need ongoing financial support from people like you. Our November monthly donor goal is 200 active monthly donors, and you can help us reach it. Becoming a monthly donor doesn’t just keep us going. It is a great way to make small-dollar donations that add up to something incredible over time. Sign up to become a monthly donor, and make your mark on the next generation of leaders, creatives, and changemakers in our community.

Spread the Word

Not everyone is able to give financially, and whether you donate or not, sharing our social media posts, forwarding emails, and sharing why you support our efforts with your networks helps us to create even more connections with community members and potential donors. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram, like our posts, share when you feel inspired, and stay up to date about events and opportunities through the Foundation.

As we gear up for GivingTuesday 2021, we have a lot to feel grateful for already. To all of our sponsors, donors, engaged students and staff, community leaders who help spread the word, media outlets who amplify our stories, and arts and sciences supporters: we couldn’t do this without you. Our hearts are full.

Now, let’s Inspire the north state together.

Ten years ago, a group of educators and community members got together with a vision of creating a new, unique high school experience for young people. Their challenge was clear: Create an educational environment that allows students to explore their interests and find their passions in a small, supportive learning community. This meant designing a school that transcended traditional public education’s focus on academic testing, which often curtails other critical learning and programs. Their vision included focus on student well-being, creative approaches to teaching and learning, and a campus culture that enables students to try, fail, and try again safely. In 2010, Inspire School of Arts & Sciences was founded, and for the past ten years, we have fine-tuned the art of cultivating an inclusive and supportive campus culture, fostering academic excellence, and nurturing creativity and critical thinking in our student body.

This transformative high school experience is what makes Inspire unique, and acts as a catalyst for students to become original thinkers and problem solvers in their communities. Inspire has provided students with the unique opportunity to explore and intensively learn in the areas of theatre, music, dance, visual arts, digital media arts, engineering, and science — unlike any other high school in the North State. Now, this award-winning public charter high school needs to raise over $6M to build a new campus. But, how did we get to this chapter in our well-established institution’s history?

OUR STORY

For a decade, we have been providing a world-class education in less-than-ideal conditions – tucked behind another local high school in portable buildings. While we have achieved incredible success at our current home, the next chapter of our story will expand our potential and capacity to build the next generation of challenge-seekers, leaders, and innovators in the North State.

Last year, we underwent an extensive rebranding process, so that we could vision the next decade of our story with a fresh perspective. The result was a new logo that exemplifies our forward-thinking approach to education and the creativity that drives it, new staff with a dedicated focus to marketing and fund development to help tell our story, and a new challenge to raise the funds we need to build a 21st century facility that matches our 21st century approach to learning.

It is time for Inspire to relocate to a new location and permanent home in Southeast Chico, on a 7-acre plot of land donated by the Chico Unified School District. At our new location, we will be building a 35,040 sq. ft. facility with updated classrooms, state-of-the-art technology and equipment, maker spaces to inspire creative expression, and plenty of open, artistic space for students to explore and expand their vision of what’s possible.

HELP US WRITE OUR NEXT CHAPTER

There are many ways to get involved in writing the next chapter of the Inspire story, and it will take all of us to make this dream a reality. Visit our Capital Campaign webpage for more details about making a one-time or monthly donation, leaving a lasting legacy through a naming opportunity at the new campus, or sponsoring one of the many other ongoing Inspire programs we run. Thank you for supporting Inspire. We got this.

Leave A Lasting Legacy on Inspire’s New Campus

Inspire School of Arts & Sciences has two years to raise $10M in order to receive a matching grant of $10M from the state to build a new state-of-the-art campus. Their lease on the current campus is up and they need a new home. To help the efforts, we are offering to have a name plaque on each classroom, quad and front of school.

  • We have naming opportunities where you can have a lasting legacy of having your name on a classroom or quad which range from $20,000 – $1,000,000 donations. Your donation can be paid over a 2 year period.

  • We also have 12 benches with name plaques for $5,000 each.

  • You can donate to have your name on a metal engraved feather to add to our donor wall. These range from $250-$1000 and can be purchased here.

Read more on our capital campaign page and if you would like to participate, complete the pledge form. If you have any questions, please call Celeste Cramer, Development Director, at (530) 999-2882 or ccramer@inspirechico.org.

Inspire School of Arts & Sciences is committed to facing racism and providing an education that address how to be anti-racist. The school will join CSU, Chico and Butte College to teach from the Book In Common. Please read the letter that the principal, Becky Brown, wrote to her students after the death of George Floyd:

Dear Inspire Students:

As we say goodbye to another difficult year, I want to acknowledge the events of the past weeks, and the extent to which the death of George Floyd at the hands of the police has deepened the wounds of our Black students and families. I want you to know that I stand with those calling for a reckoning of America’s past injustices and for a new commitment to live out our shared democratic values that include equal protection by law.

Inspire calls itself a School for Everyone, and our vision statement includes a commitment to providing a place for “all students to feel safe, appreciated, and respected.” You have seen the ways in which our teachers work to cultivate respectful spaces for discussions about race in the classroom: In Mrs. Travers’ and Mrs. DeLaTorres’ classes, you learned about the power of nonviolent protest to change racial injustice in societies; in Mr. Hill’s class, you discussed the ways that charismatic leaders could use the rhetoric of hate to deepen racial divides; for those who traveled with Sojourn to the Past, you heard, first-hand, the stories of those who fought for equal rights for Black Americans.

I know that it can be painful to look closely at the ways that, as a school, we are part of an American system of education that has either been complicit in–or played an active part in–expanding the stranglehold of racial injustice in our society. I also know that what Ta-Nehisi Coates says is true: “An America that asks what it owes its most vulnerable citizens is improved and humane. An America that looks away is ignoring not just the sins of the past but the sins of the present and the certain sins of the future.” Your Inspire teachers and staff commit to engaging in the long-term, difficult work of owning and addressing our biases, elevating the voices of those impacted by racial injustice, and putting our resources and energy toward positive change.

As you head into a well-deserved summer break, remember to listen, to be kind to each other, to stand up for what’s right, and to approach others with love, not hate. I hope you know that you can reach out to me with a phone call or email if you want to talk more.

With love, gratitude and hope,

Mrs. Brown

Inspire School of Arts & Sciences is the #1 rated high school in Chico, CA and the only high school in Northern California that specializes in providing an immersive educational experience in the arts and sciences. As we celebrate Inspire’s 10-year anniversary, we’d like to share what makes this school a model learning environment, a beacon for the arts and sciences in the North State, an institution facing an extraordinary challenge, and a cause worth supporting…What makes Inspire School of Arts & Sciences unique?

  • Striving for excellence. Inspire has the #1 ranking in English Language Acquisition (ELA), Math and Science state test scores for Chico, CA area schools, with the highest rate of high school graduates.
  • Transcending traditional learning. Inspire offers over 80 electives and 12 majors to its students, creating an award-winning educational experience that prepares young leaders to expand and achieve their dreams.
  • Producing world-class performances. Patrons often walk away from Inspire productions in awe that this level of talent has come from high school students.“I have been attending Broadway Shows in New York for 30 years and after watching Oklahoma by Inspire, I now know where I can see performances of that caliber.” – Connie, Butte County resident
  • Creating hands-on experiences. Inspire School of Arts & Sciences offers the most diverse range of engineering courses of any school in the North State. Students work in teams to design and test solutions, they’re empowered to develop in-demand, transportable skills like collaboration, critical thinking, and communication.
  • Pushing boundaries. Science students are encouraged to think outside the box leading students to explore how to create a system to recycle all the plastic on campus into usable items, work with a scientist on the east coast to develop a powder to regenerate limbs, and building a suitcase sized solar battery that was delivered to villagers in Tanzania to provide light and joy during a dark African night.

For the past 10 years, Inspire has been operating in a less than ideal situation – in portables behind another high school.Since the beginning, Inspire has had a vision for moving to a new site. They learned that they were eligible for Prop 51 funds from the state of California, which provides matching funds up to $10 million if they can garner $10 million in contributions of their own. However, the 2018 Camp Fire that devastated the community burned a quarter of the Inspire student’s homes and increased the poverty level of Inspire families, quickly redirecting the staff’s efforts to meeting the fundamental needs of families. Then, in the same month that the Inspire Foundation was launching their first capital campaign to build their new school, the COVID-19 global pandemic caused the closure of thousands of local businesses, leading to another tragedy that has had serious impacts on the North State economy. Now, Inspire has just a year and a half to raise $10 million in order to receive the matching funds from the state to build their new school, and we need your help in this effort. You, our valued supporter, can be part of making this vision a reality and building a lasting legacy for the arts and sciences in this rural area of Northern California. With your financial support, Inspire School of Arts & Sciences will fulfill our core values of honoring the voices, talents and passions of young people; ensuring each student feels seen, heard and supported; maintaining high expectations for learning rooted in critical thinking, innovation, and creativity; celebrating and nurturing relationships and building community with kindness, compassion and success for all students; and cultivating a staff commitment to professionalism, shared leadership, and student-centered learning.WAYS TO SUPPORT INSPIRE:

  • Donate matching funds for a certain time period or up to a certain amount. The Inspire Foundation will set up a page with your logo and your terms. Every time someone donates, they get notified that you matched the donation.
  • Create your own donation page. You upload your logo, tell a bit about why you want to help, and set up the funding goal. The Foundation gives you your own URL to share and make updates to your page to keep the excitement going.
  • Donate items or services for a giveaway. Do you have something you can donate to the cause? We know that people are more likely to donate when they are enticed with getting a gift for their donation. If we have something to offer in a giveaway, we can offer these for everyone who donates a certain amount or between certain time periods. For example, the next 200 people who donate $200 get a Klean Kanteen as a thank you.

Any one of these options includes your logo with a link to your website on our site – www.SupportInspire.com – as well as social recognition on our Facebook and Instagram pages.Funding Inspire High School means supporting the vision and mission of encouraging students to be their best selves. The new school will include a state-of-the-art theatre complex, industry standard digital and media arts studios, industry standard science and engineering labs, creative maker spaces to celebrate the intersection of art and science, and state-of-the-art classrooms and collaborative spaces designed to encourage creative thinking across all subject matter. To make this vision a reality, our dedicated students and staff need your help. Contribute to our campaign today, and let us create a lasting impact on the arts and sciences together.Sincerely,Celeste CramerDevelopment DirectorInspire School of Arts & SciencesOffice: (530) 999-2882Email: ccramer@inspirechico.orgSchool Info: www.InspireChico.orgHow To Give: www.SupportInspire.com

Inspire has provided students with the unique opportunity to explore and intensively learn in the areas of theatre, music, dance, visual arts, digital media arts, engineering, and science–unlike any other high school in the North State. This award-winning high school commits to preparing the greatest number of students possible within a small school environment for a successful transition to college, work, and life experiences that reflect a lifelong love of learning, a fearless approach to risk-taking, a healthy work ethic, and a passionate commitment to service.

Inspire is ready for a 21st century campus to meet its 21st century education. Over the past ten years, Inspire has been a catalyst for thousands of students in their quest to make their mark on the world. However, the school has been providing this education within the limited walls of mostly aging portable classrooms. The time has come to provide students with a dynamic facility that promotes deep learning and critical thinking, the kind of thinking that confronts challenges and inspires solutions. That’s why the Inspire School of Arts & Sciences Foundation has launched a capital campaign to kick-off their fundraising efforts for a new and visionary school in Chico, CA.

From the beginning, Inspire has held the vision of moving to a new site. In late 2019, they learned that the school was eligible for Prop 51 funds from the state of California through a charter school facilities grant. Under this program, the state will fund up to $10 million with a school match of $10 million. Also in 2018, Chico Unified School District offered Inspire the use of seven acres of a Canyon View property that was purchased with taxpayer funds many years ago. Parallel with this momentum, the Inspire Foundation was established for the purpose of fundraising, launching a capital campaign to build our students and staff the school they deserve at this new site.

Inspire has just a year and a half to raise $10 million in order to receive matching funds from the state to build their new school.

With this goal in mind, the Inspire Foundation and the entire Inspire School of Arts & Sciences team has created the Build A School They DeserveCampaign with the goal of raising $200,000 in 200 days with community support. They are offering businesses marketing opportunities for donating directly, match donations or creating a fundraising team. In addition, individuals can donate directly or create a team and all sponsors are honored on the website: www.SupportInspire.com. “The North State is no stranger to crisis and uncertainty, but our experiences have made us stronger, more resilient, and more motivated to press forward. That is the commitment of Inspire School of Arts & Sciences, and we invite you to join us in this mission,” states Celeste Cramer, the Inspire Foundation’s Development Director.
