Since opening in 2010, Inspire School of Arts & Sciences has provided students with the unique opportunity to explore and intensively learn in the areas of theatre, music, dance, visual arts, digital media arts, engineering, and science – unlike any other high school in the North State. This award-winning high school commits to preparing students within a connected school community for a successful transition to college, work, and life experiences that reflect a lifelong love of learning, a fearless approach to risk-taking, a healthy work ethic, collaborative learning, and a passionate commitment to service.
From the beginning, Inspire has held the vision of moving to a new site. In late 2019, Inspire became eligible for Prop 51 funds from the state of California through a charter facilities grant applied for in Spring 2017. Under this program, the state will fund up to $10 million, if the Foundation can realize a $10 million match. Inspire has also realized significant funds dedicated to facilities through a local school bond (Measure K, 2016).
Also in February 2019, Chico Unified School District approved Inspire’s use of seven acres of a Canyon View property that was funded with a local school bond (Measure A, 1998). Parallel with this momentum, the Inspire Foundation was established with the purpose of supporting the school and launching a capital campaign to build our students and staff the school they deserve at this new site.
In July, 2020, the Foundation joined with the Inspire Support Team (a dynamic group of parents). With this merge, the Foundation took on the responsibility of raising funds for the Angel Network, student scholarships, funds to support the arts and sciences programs, teacher’s development, and students activities.
The Inspire School of Arts & Sciences Foundation is vigorously raising funds to build a truly inspiring campus, as well as bridging the gap between the state allocated funding and the costs of providing industry-current pathways and programs in the arts, sciences, and engineering.
What We Fund
Every student deserves an extraordinary education so the Angel Network was created to supplement students who need supplies, food or additional resources to supplement their education.
Inspire is a college-prep school that encourages students to reach their full potential by encouraging attending college and to help fund this goal, the Foundation gives scholarships to qualified students.
Inspire School of Arts & Sciences has incredible programs in the areas of the arts and sciences but the state funding doesn’t cover the additional funding these programs demand to be successful.
Raising funds to create a truly inspiring campus - with a state-of-art theatre complex, digital and media arts studios, science and engineering labs, and creative maker spaces to enhance the intersection of art and science.
With Your Help, We Can Make Sure These Programs Thrive
Inspire empowers the artist within. Visual and performing arts heal, nourish, and speak to our humanity. They help students listen to their inner voices, develop and express their thoughts, and share who they are with the world. Students are emboldened to try new things and to build on their passions, cultivating confidence and an appreciation for what each other has to offer.
The Missing Link
Inspire does not have a theatre of its own. Instead, our school productions are held in several different venues outside the campus. Sharing a venue results in increased travel time, storage costs, and scheduling conflicts. Technical studios are held in portables lacking the infrastructure needed to maximize learning. While functional, the current situation is less than ideal.
As a premier arts and sciences school, Inspire students deserve a performance facility capable of supporting rich artistic learning.
Our Mission & Approach
Inspire School of Arts & Sciences strives to motivate and empower its students to reach their intellectual, creative, personal, civic, and social potentials in a smaller, supportive environment in which all students feel safe, appreciated and respected.
Inspire students learn to communicate effectively, think critically and creatively, question convention, solve problems, and become competent and resourceful users of technology.
Our school’s structure and teaching strategies are designed to foster excellence in all disciplines, while preparing students for college and university level scholarship.
The value of both performing and fine arts in our lives is honored in a curriculum that infuses a diversity of art into the students’ day and into the culture of our school. Our students have the opportunity to explore and enhance their individual creative talents under the guidance of professional, experienced artists.
Inspire students experience the wonder of art and the intersection of the arts and sciences, and they learn to recognize how they benefit and impact the future world that we will build for the generations that follow us.
With your help, we can make sure these exceptional programs flourish and that every student has the opportunity to thrive.

A Letter from the Principal
Since 2010, Inspire School of Arts & Sciences has delivered the high school experience, transformed. Every day, we offer learning opportunities at the intersection of the arts and sciences. In addition to dancers, singers, and actors, students at Inspire are empowered to become artists, designers, researchers, engineers, and builders. This is something that happens all across campus, facilitated by master teachers. In Math class, students understand that solving a problem can be a choose-your-own adventure. In Ceramics, students understand that building a vase is a feat of design and engineering. We offer students learning opportunities that integrate logic and intuition, mind and heart, technical know-how with imagination. The result is that we are sending people out into the world as fearless thinkers, do-ers, and problem-solvers. The integration of creativity and scientific thinking is the future of American education, and it’s happening right here at Inspire.
What you might not know, though, is that we are implementing a high school experience like no other in our region on a shared campus, in borrowed facilities, on a traditional-school budget.
Schools can no longer function by hosting small fundraisers – especially cutting-edge, award-winning schools like Inspire School of Arts & Sciences. We need your help to bridge the gap between what the state funding provides and the additional costs of this extensive education.
We are so grateful for your partnership, and we can’t wait to see what the future of Inspire holds!
